ANSWERED : Why does it say 'quarantine' on the hatch?

Is there really a sickness or was it just designed to keep people in the Hatch?

ANSWERED: It was just a trick to get people in the hatch. This is confirmed by the "canon jigsaw" puzzles which state the Quarantine was a hoax.
